The Tour of the 7 Churches
The Jubilee , Holy Year of the Catholic Church , was born in the Old Testament as a time of liberation of slaves and rest of the land . It has always been an occasion for spiritual renewal , confession of sins and strengthening of faith .
It was established in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII , who invited the faithful to Rome to obtain plenary indulgence.
A symbolic itinerary is the Tour of the Seven Churches , introduced by San Filippo Neri in the 16th century .
Crossing the Holy Doors of each Basilica represents a journey of faith and inner renewal .
